Santiago Ramis

I’m Santiago Ramis, a Platform Engineer based in Palma, Mallorca (Spain) with 20+ years of experience in IT. I’m currently focused on Kubernetes, GitOps, and infrastructure automation in the automotive industry.

I design and operate multi-environment platforms on OpenShift, managing the full lifecycle from Helm chart development to continuous delivery with ArgoCD. My strength is turning complex infrastructure problems into simple, automated solutions: whether that’s migrating legacy deployments to GitOps, implementing observability stacks, or building CI/CD pipelines.

I work best in small, high-impact teams where ownership and autonomy matter. I’m pragmatic, KISS-oriented, and I care deeply about reliability and developer experience.

  • Family: My family is the most important thing in my life, so I try to spend all my free time with my wife and our two young daughters.
  • Music: I love rock music and played drums in a band until 2020. I still have the drum kit at home and hit it every now and then.
  • Anime & manga: I’m a big fan, especially of science fiction and psychological thrillers. Steins;Gate is one of my reference works.
  • Basketball: I follow the NBA and play whenever I can, though my legs are no longer twenty.
  • DIY: I enjoy fixing and building things around the house. From wiring to woodwork, any excuse to grab the tools.

Work philosophy

I see infrastructure work as a long-term commitment. Everything should be declarative, version-controlled, and observable, because what you can’t reproduce, you can’t maintain. I document decisions, automate repetitive work, and avoid manual tasks that can be delegated to a machine. My measure of success isn’t deploying fast, it’s building platforms that are a joy to operate and that make life easier for the people who use them.
